Working closely with the Professional Darts Players Association (PDPA) to create a website that not only serves as a centralised information hub for its members but also fosters a strong sense of community. This website is designed to facilitate easy access to upcoming events, player rankings, and provide support for mental health, financial, and career-related concerns.
UX Research
Our approach began with in-depth UX research to understand the existing website's challenges and opportunities. Through collaborative sessions with stakeholders and surveys amongst members, we gained insights into the users' needs and preferences. A key finding was the necessity for a mobile-first design, acknowledging that most members access the site via mobile devices. This insight directed our focus towards creating a website that ensures information is easily accessible and navigation is seamless.
The design strategy was centred around usability and clarity, drawing inspiration from successful sporting organisations to reflect the passion and enthusiasm of the darts community. High-quality photography from past tournaments was integrated to add a dynamic visual element, enriching the user experience. The use of custom code and Craft CMS for the website's development was chosen to enhance site speed, performance, and ensure ease of maintenance and content management, allowing the website to evolve alongside the PDPA.
